Welcome back to The View at Mill Run Blog! Along with the rest of the country, Owings Mills, MD celebrates Independence Day this month with the red white and blue — and we think it’s also the perfect time to celebrate red, white, and blueberries too! This month we’re bringing our residents of our apartment community six unique blueberry recipes (and the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council’s website has, even more, blueberry-based recipes). In addition to the official beginning of spring (March 20th), March is also home to Pi Day (3.14), the Ides of March on the 15th (made famous by Shakespeare’s reference in Julius Caesar), St. Patrick’s Day celebrated on March 17th, and the lesser known Johnny Appleseed Day — which is the focus of The View at Mill Run Blog today. February, that mid-winter month, is here, claiming its due of darkness and chill. But amid the frigid days, it also offers a glimpse of spring in the Valentine’s Day flower bouquets that pop up all over Owings MIlls, MD. It’s one of the wonderful traditions of the day. Scottish poet Robert Burns wrote a poem about love and roses, which is rather fitting for our blog post about flowers today, so we thought we’d share:
